Vinyl is Culture

Lets fight against excessive vinyl taxation

BraSil, as a 3rd world country, with very small cultural foment, will need all the help it can get from developed countries. BraSil's financial crisis has turned into an economic disaster that could be devastating for the sixty million people living in poverty. The dolar, now at a high of 3.40 Reais/ 1.oo $. The regular fee to a brasilian DJs rarelly is more then the value correspondent to 2/ 3 records (R$ 60-120).
We only have a very small (vinyl ) record label located in Rio de Janeiro. It is pressing some electronic music, but it cannot be recognized as a strong manufacturer. Thus, we can say that we do not have any kind of similar national product, which is a big argument before the governmental entities.
Therefore, the BraSilian djs and the community involved in electronic music, hip hop, soul, etc are together in the National Campaign. Our main intention is to reduce the taxation of vinyl and music import. We are collecting information from BraSilian djs and musicians which will be the basis of the campaign (we have around 250 supporters to date) and our project will be forwarded to executive and legislative governmental entities.

We already have the support of the BraSilian Executive (Federal) Government (Ministry of Culture), the Government of the city of São Paulo (Youth Coordination), night clubs, producers, websites, internet groups, discussion forums, radio, international djs, producers and lists , like: www.femalepressure.net, DBIT (USA-Detroit), Dan Physics @ Sonic Groove, Chris Liebing, Godfather, Grovskopa (Sweden), John Selway, Mark Farina, Integrale Musik (UK), Oscar Mulero.

The following are the latest publications on the national press regarding this matter: O Globo - Folha de Sao Paulo - Folha da Tarde

The scope of the sub-project is in part the preparation of proposals in order t (i) obtain vinyl donation and (ii) arrange for international DJs who come to BraSil to bring an extra case of vinyl to be sold at pre-organized selling events, e.g., Glenn Wilson recently had good results out of the sale of vinyl through the campaign only a few months ago in the BraSilian territory. A percentage of the income is donated to the Campaign.

We are contacting international djs, distributors, internet shops and producers. Now we are contacting you in order to see if we can obtain your engagement to the NATIONAL CAMPAIGN AGAINST EXCESSIVE VINYL TAXATION - BraSil.

Music is very important in our lives. Vinyl is culture
